According to Pulse by Maeil Business News Korea,

South Korean eco-friendly solutions company EcoPro HN completed a new facility in its push to diversify into advanced battery and semiconductor materials. The company has set a mid- to long-term vision of achieving 1 trillion won ($713 million) in revenue by 2028, backed by an investment of 500 billion won in the new plant.

On Wednesday, EcoPro HN announced the completion of its 50,000-square-meter Chopyeong site in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province. With an investment of 130 billion won, the facility includes a crucible production plant, dopant production plant, and an automated warehouse. This plant is a pivotal shift toward secondary battery materials, which has been dubbed a “second foundation” for the company.

Lee Dong-chae, founder of EcoPro and former chairman of EcoPro Group, highlighted this new phase, saying that the Chopyeong site will play a substantial role in meeting the 1 trillion won revenue goal by 2028.

At the new facility, EcoPro HN will produce crucibles capable of up to 10 uses, supplying them not only to EcoPro BM but also to other Korean cathode materials companies. The facility will also ramp up production of dopants, an additive that enhances battery lifespan, using advanced nanoparticle synthesis and dispersion technology to ensure market competitiveness.

To celebrate the facility’s opening, EcoPro HN donated 25 million won each to North Chungcheong Province and Jincheon County. The plant is expected to create around 500 jobs across research, production, and manufacturing sectors.

Further investments are planned to bolster the company’s semiconductor materials and environmental products lineup. Beginning in 2025, EcoPro HN will focus on developing materials for semiconductor fabrication and packaging, with plans to establish a pilot production line and conduct sample testing for next-generation semiconductor processes.

EcoPro HN also aims to strengthen its greenhouse gas mitigation capabilities. To combat emissions from semiconductor manufacturing, the company will build a production line for honeycomb catalysts, a next-generation solution, and accelerate the development of advanced adsorption materials.
