According to Yonhap News,

On November 20, Coupang Logistics Service (CLS) announced that it will invest KRW 20 billion to build a "Sub-hub" in Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk-do, to expand rocket delivery services in this region.

The Sub-hub is an intermediate logistics facility that sends goods from the distribution center to the delivery camp.

At the MOU signing ceremony, CEO Hong Yong-joon of CLS, Governor Song Ki-seop of Jincheon-gun, and Special adviser for Political Affairs Hwang Hyun-gu of Chungbuk Province attended.

The sub-hub will be 18,000㎡ (about 5,500 pyeong) and will begin operation starting from January next year. It is expected to serve as the infrastructure for rocket delivery services in the Chungcheong area.

Coupang will employ more than 400 people to operate its facilities. By providing decent jobs to local young people, Coupang expects to help more people settle down in the region.

CEO Hong of CLS said, "we will contribute to the local economy by hiring Jincheon residents first."

Governor Song said, "with large-scale employment, we expect to revitalize the local economy, while improving the convenience of local residents through expanded rocket delivery services."

Meanwhile, Coupang plans to invest about KRW 3 trillion by 2026 to build logistics facilities in nine regions across the country to make the rocket delivery available in every corner of the country. When all the facilities are completed, it is expected to employ as many as 10,000 people.
