According to Yonhap News,

Strawberry exports from Chungbuk-do have resumed for the first time in six years.

On January 16th, Chungbuk-do held a strawberry export shipment ceremony at a smart farm in Gadeok-myeon, Cheongju-si.

A total of 151 kg of strawberries produced at this farm will be exported to Indonesia.

This marks the first time since 2019 that strawberries from Chungbuk-do are being exported.

Strawberries from the region have been very popular domestically, and securing sales channels has been relatively easy, so they have primarily been distributed within Korea rather than being exported, due to the significant logistics costs involved.

Chungbuk-do expects that this resumption of exports will serve as an opportunity to enhance the global competitiveness of local strawberries.

In particular, this is the first time that strawberries produced in a smart farm are being exported, adding extra significance to the occasion.

Strawberries grown in smart farms maintain consistent sweetness and size in an optimized environment, which is expected to play a key role in establishing a premium image for strawberries produced in Chungbuk-do.

A local official stated, " We will continue to provide administrative support to explore new export markets and build a stable export foundation."
