On January 17, Chungbuk-do announced that it will invest KRW 78 billion to push for 89 key projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions and fostering a smart livestock and fisheries industry.

The projects are divided into four areas: improving livestock farming environments and implementing smart livestock systems, creating an environmentally friendly low-carbon livestock environment in response to climate change, building a society where humans and animals coexist happily, and creating future value through the promotion of eco-friendly inland fisheries.

Specific projects include the integration of ICT in livestock farming (KRW 2.75 billion), modernizing livestock facilities (KRW 9.7 billion), fostering the Korean beef industry (KRW 1.07 billion), and livestock disaster insurance (KRW 7.2 billion), which aim to create a smart livestock environment and improve the quality of Korean beef.

In addition, the province will renovate outdated shared resource facilities (KRW 690 million), improve and reduce livestock odor (KRW 2.8 billion), designate 90 clean livestock farms, and provide support for eco-friendly livestock product certification (KRW 100 million), aiming to improve livestock farming environments and expand eco-friendly livestock product production.

To create a society where humans and animals coexist happily, the province will operate animal protection centers (KRW 410 million), neuter stray cats (KRW 690 million ), support the adoption and rescue of stray animals (KRW 280 million), neuter outdoor dogs (KRW 250 million), and establish an animal protection center in Eumseong County (KRW 1.6 billion).

Moreover, the province will strengthen inland fisheries competitiveness by releasing juvenile fish (KRW 720 million), capturing invasive alien fish species (KRW 140 million ), fostering eco-friendly aquaculture (KRW 3.04 billion ), improving aquaculture water quality (KRW 220 million ), and supporting packaging for seafood products (KRW 440 million).

A provincial official stated, "This year, we will focus on carbon reduction practices and expanding smart livestock farming to improve the fundamentals of the livestock industry, and will do our best to foster a sustainable livestock and fisheries industry."
