According to Yonhap News,
(Chungju = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Hyeong-woo – Case of applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) services to administrative practice are increasing in the public sector of Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, to ensure efficient task processing.
Chungju City announced on the 28th that last year, 358 employees viewed 4,278 precedents and received answers to 12,525 inquiries through "L-BOX," an AI-based legal service. This averages to 356 precedent views and 1,044 inquiries per month.
L-BOX is a service that promptly presents relevant precedents, statutes, and interpretive examples based on the content of inquiries, providing them in a report format. The city explained that this service has reduced the time required for statutory review and allowed for more rapid and consistent legal uations of complex administrative matters.
In some cases, civil servants are taking the lead in developing AI services themselves. Earlier this month, "Jarvis," a learning club of Chungju City officials, developed an AI chatbot that can be applied to practical work in the social welfare sector.
This chatbot allows for easy searching and utilization of information in social welfare duties, where business guidelines are numerous and statutory amendments are frequent. The accuracy of the answers is reportedly at a level of 90 percent.
"AI is assisting our work by immediately providing the desired content in a report format," said Lee Jeong-in, the Inspector General. "We look forward to its continued and active utilization in the future."
