(Jeungpyeong = Newsis) Reporter Seo Ju-young = Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungbuk, announced on the 6th that it has signed an export contract for red ginseng slices with a company in the Guangzhou region of China.
The export volume is 1,000 sets of red ginseng slices worth approximately KRW 25 million. This is the first time processed ginseng products, such as slices, have been exported. The Chinese market is known to have a high preference for dried whole red ginseng roots.
The county expects exports of ginseng to reach a scale of KRW 4 billion by the end of this year. Last year, the export value to China, Japan, and Vietnam was approximately KRW 3.2 billion.
A county official said, "Sales are increasing every year through continuous overseas marketing." The official added, "We will continue to make efforts to raise the brand awareness of Jeungpyeong ginseng in the future."
