(Cheongju = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeon Chang-hae – Agri-food small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in Chungcheongbuk-do secured export contracts valued at USD 4.92 million (approximately KRW 7.3 billion) at a recent trade exhibition held in Thailand.
According to Chungcheongbuk-do on the 8th, 11 enterprises from the province achieved these results during their participation in the '2026 Thaifex-Anuga Asia' (Thailand International Food Exhibition) held in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 26th to the 30th of last month.
Among them, six enterprises also signed seven Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) worth USD 1.37 million (approximately KRW 2 billion).
Looking at the primary performances by enterprise, Haesarang, a Cheongju-based company that produces seasoned seaweed and organic seaweed, signed a USD 1.30 million (approximately KRW 1.95 billion) export contract alongside a USD 300 thousand (approximately KRW 450 million) MOU.
In addition, Arinus, located in Jecheon, secured a contract worth USD 960 thousand (approximately KRW 1.44 billion) for its turmeric concentrate and calcium jelly products. Taewoong Food, based in Eumseong, signed a contract valued at USD 600 thousand (approximately KRW 900 million) for its beverage products, including peach iced tea.
Chungcheongbuk-do reported that it deployed shared interpretation personnel to facilitate smooth export consultations for these enterprises, while rendering administrative support so that the participants could focus entirely on their business meetings.
Lee Pil-jae, Director of the Agri-Food Distribution Division of Chungcheongbuk-do, stated, "We will spare no support to diversify export items and expand overseas markets to enhance the global competitiveness of Chungbuk's agri-food products."
