Chungju City announced on the 17th that it has been selected for the industrial fiber infrastructure development project hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR).
The Industrial Fiber Innovation Hub Center, which involves an investment of KRW 16 billion including KRW 10 billion from national funds and KRW 6 billion from local funds, will be newly constructed on a 6,610 square meter site in Hwagok-ri, Judeok-eup. The center will be equipped with relevant equipment and personnel within a two-story building featuring a total floor area of 1,815 square meters.
The city plans to establish a testing and certification support framework alongside performance uation equipment for industrial fibers. It will also provide technical support and consulting for enterprises.
Industrial fibers are high-value-added materials utilized across various sectors such as automotive, aerospace, defense, and construction. They have recently emerged as a core sector for future growth as demands for eco-friendly and lightweight options skyrocket.
A city official stated, "The center will establish a full-lifecycle support framework for the mobility components and modules industry in the Chungju region." The official added, "This will serve as an important turning point for Chungju to grow into a leading city in the future mobility industry."
