Danyang-gun to Use LNG from Next Year

Danyang-gun, Chungbuk-do (North Chungcheong Province) will use liquefied natural gas (LNG) from next year.

 

According to Dangyang-gun on January 10th, Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) has completed the construction of 30km of main pipe among 35.5km section from Jecheon management office to Danyang management office with the investment of KRW 26.5 billion.

 

With the construction rate of main pipe currently at 85%, two supply management offices (Maepo, Danyang) which will connect branch pipes will be completed by June.

 

Danyang management office, which will link the main pipe with the branch pipe of Danyang-eup, will be built on the area of 9,526 m2 in Eouigok-ri, Maepo-eup. Meanwhile, Maepo management office, which will connect the branch pipe of Maepo-eup with the main pipe, will be constructed on the area of 7,397 m2 in Maepo-ri, Maepo-eup. The two offices will be equipped with shut-off valves, control rooms, etc.

 

An official of Danyang-gun said “construction will be completed by June, followed by test run of the offices and a building completion ceremony at the beginning of next year. Maepo Eco-friendly Agricultural Industrial Complex and Danyang New Materials Industrial Complex will be invigorated, as pollution-free complexes will be boosted based on the advantages of the clean Danyang region.”

 

Danyang-gun gathered signatures from about 1,000 residents who demanded the early supply of LNG in October 2008, and sent them to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, etc. KOGAS included the Danyang region in its 9th long-term LNG supply plan.
