A US bio-company is expected to occupy ‘Osong Bio Valley’ in Chungbuk-do (North Chungcheong Province).
According to Chungbuk on April 7th, Chungbuk Governor Lee Si-jong will visit the U.S. from April 10th to 18th and exchange an agreement for an investment worth USD 30 million with a bio-company based in Montgomery County, Maryland on April 11th.
The Province explained that the company is developing protein drugs and gene therapy.
Osong Bio Valley has established its vision to bring together KTX Osong station area, Osong 1, 2 Bio Science Industrial Complex, and High-Tech Medical Complex and to grow into ‘a globally renowned quality city.’ High-Tech Medical Complex will be developed into a bio research town; KTX Osong station area into a tourist attraction and a cultural district; Osong 1 Bio Science Industrial Complex into a bio administrative and industrial district; and Osong 2 Bio Science Industrial Complex into a bio educational and industrial center.
Governor Lee plans to pay a visit to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon after his visit to the U.S. to propose that UN bio engineering international cooperative center be built in Osong and a world traditional sports center under the umbrella of UNESCO be established in Chungju. He will also conduct investment promotional activities.
