CDC to Hold the 1st Biobank Forum

According to Yonhap News,

Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) held the first Biobank forum under the theme of future direction of health care research and Biobank on August 30.

The forum is designed to devise mid- to long-term strategy of Korea Biobank Project. Director of CDC biological resources division presented the current condition of Biobank Project and the direction of forum's operation.

Experts of Biobank talked about directions of state-funded research projects and Biobank project.

CDC plans to come up with strategies for the successful operation of Biobank project after the second forum in October this year.

CDC set up a task force team to manage biotic resources in 2008, and have supported the operation of unit biobanks for the last three years.

As of the end of last year, unit and central biobanks have secured biological resources of 360,000 people. They have sold 190,000 vials for R&D in the health care sector.
