Due to the establishment of a free economic zone authority, North Chungcheong Province is preparing an organizational reshuffling. It will also enact an ordinance in relation to the establishment of the free economic zone authority in the region.
According to the ordinance, the free economic zone authority will be responsible for three districts: Osong Bio Valley, Chungju Ecopolis, and Aeropolis, which includes the Cheongju International Airport. The Osong Bio Valley will consist of a biomedical district and a research, tourism & business district.
As announced last month, the authority will consist of a planning and general affairs department, a development work department, and an investment promotion department. It will have 47 employees including a director. The provincial government is reviewing ways to dispatch public officials to the authority when necessary.
North Chungcheong Province will launch the free economic zone authority after receiving approval for its reorganization plan at the 319th special meeting of the Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Council, which will be held April 15.
