(CHEONGJU = Newsis) The Chungbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (CBFEZA) is actively carrying out investment attraction activities to induce foreign companies in the countries in North America and Japan.

According to an announcement of the CBFEZA on January 14, the authority visited Japan and the United States in last December, and met the local companies to discuss investment in the Chungbuk free economic zone.

The delegation to Japan in the same month visited Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association and aerospace companies to brief investors about Aeropolis near the Cheongju International Airport.

Japanese aero and automotive companies showed a great deal of interest in the business environment, project progress situation and supporting policies of the Korean government, the authority said.

The CBFEZA also dispatched a delegation to the United States to attract international schools and clinical testing centers.

The authority said that it found 13 local companies who are interested in investing in Biomedical Complex in Osong Biomedical Cluster.

Also, the CBFEZA hired two new experts on January 1 to carry out investment attraction activities and project development.

“We will closely work with the U.S. and Japanese companies who showed interest in investing in the Chungbuk economic zone," said an official of the CBFEZA.

"The CBFEZA is working hard to discover potential investors by analyzing the trend of foreign investment in Korea,”

In 2012, the Korean government designated Ecopolis, Osong Biomedical cluster and other complexes as the Chungbuk free economic zone.
