(GOESAN=NEWSIS) Geosan County in North Chungcheong Province has been selected as the best basic local government for productivity in Korea for three consecutive years.

Goesan won the best prize at the 4th Local Government Productivity Award that is co-hosted by the Ministry of Security and Public Administration (MOSPA), national cities and provinces and the Korea Productivity Center on October 31.

Local Government Productivity Award evaluates the productivity (efficiency + effectiveness) of basic local governments based on the productivity index, which is developed by MOSPA.

Goesan received good marks for increased budget for public projects, sound local financial management and high income per capita compared to the local budget.

"We will be armed with stronger administrative power to provide creative and effective administration and increase productivity to improve the quality of lives of people in Goesan," said a Goesan official.
