(CHEONGJU=NEWSIS) North Chungcheong Province officially proclaimed the 2020 vision to realize 4 percent growth rate of the gross regional domestic product (GRDP).

The goal of the vision is to attract KRW 37 trillion worth of investment by 2020 and achieve investment of USD 23 billion and employment rate of 72 percent.

The province aims to achieve the USD 40,000 level of income per capita by increasing the GRDP to KRW 67 trillion.

The province also announced five strategies and 283 tasks for 16 sectors. The five strategies include promoting the regional economy; enhancing strategies for corporate investment; establishing foundation for shared growth; creating jobs and strengthening export; and establishing a business-friendly regional environment.

“North Chungcheong Province is regarded as a land of opportunity for the new metropolitan area era and we have to make the best use of this opportunity. We will concentrate on the six new growth engines including bio, cosmetics & beauty, solar energy, organic, ICT and maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO),” said North Chungcheong Province Governor Lee Si-jong.
