According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) From a sheep farm to a temple stay and coffee shops, these are among the tourist attractions that South Korea's northeast province of Gangwon offers to foreign visitors during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

--- Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm

Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm -- located in Daegwallyeong in the eastern alpine county of PyeongChang in Gangwon Province -- is the only ranch in South Korea that raises sheep.

Visitors can see herds of sheep on the 195-square-meter ranch and feed them hay in the sheep feeding area. It takes about 40 minutes to walk along a 1.2-meter-long circular walkway that surrounds the fields.

Admission fees range from 2,000 won to 4,000 won.

--- Woljeongsa Temple

Woljeong Temple, surrounded by Mount Odae, is one of the must-visit places in PyeongChang. Woljeong Temple is home to treasure No. 139 "Stone Seated Bodhisattva" statue and national treasure No. 48 "Octagonal Nine Storied Stone Pagoda."

The trail through a fir forest stretching from the entrance of the temple is popular after the famous Korean TV series "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" was filmed at the location.

For 40,000 won to 70,000 won, visitors can stay at the temple overnight to experience Buddhist culture.

Temple stay programs generally let laypeople and non-Buddhists experience monastic life ranging from early-morning chanting, Zen meditation and tea ceremonies to domestic chores, during an overnight stay at a mountainside temple.

Temple stay programs have gained popularity among foreign tourists and local residents since they were first introduced in 2002 at dozens of temples across South Korea.

--- Coffee houses

Gangneung on the South Korea's east coast is well-known for cafes as it is the first local district in South Korea to have hosted a coffee festival.

Strolling on the coffee street of Anmok Beach, visitors can spot many coffee houses roasting their own coffee beans with the seascape unfolding before them.

A group of seasoned baristas has set up coffee houses on the street since 2007, leading to the establishment of the coffee street.

Gangneung is one of venues of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics along with PyeongChang and nearby Jeongseon.

--- Ski Jumping

If you want to feel the Olympic atmosphere before the opening of the Games, you can visit Alpensia Ski Jumping Center. The center built at 850m above sea level for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics has been open to the public since April 2015.

Alpensia Ski Jumping Center became famous following the Korean sports movie "Take Off," which cast light on the country's national ski jumping team.
