Gangwon Business Agency selected 11 "Global IP Star Companies" this year

The Regional Intellectual Property Center (RIPC) of Gangwon Business Agency said on March 15 that it selected "11 global IP star companies" which possess export-focused growth potential and technology competency.

In a Global IP Star Company project, supported by Korean Intellectual Property Office and Gangwon-do, 38 companies in Gangwon region applied for.

RIPC Gangwon made a final selection of 11 companies including BL Tech and Daeyoung E&C based on face-to-face assessment and IP spectrum, which indicates company's IP management capability.

RIPC Gangwon will be fostering 34 global IP star companies, including 23 companies previously selected.

Selected companies will be supported in establishing IP foundation such as development of non-English brand and patent map, vital for entry to global markets, up to KRW 70 million per year (up to 3 years).

GBA said, "Pursuing exports without strategy for local intellectual property implies high risks, undermining possibility of continued growth," adding that "we will keep making efforts to ensure RIPC's expert consulting on IP will help strengthen global competitiveness of enterprises, and create more global IP star companies in Gangwon region".
