Hoengseong Nurungji, to become a hit with US snackers
Traditionally processed Korean snack, Nurungji (thin crisp crust of roasted rice that forms at the bottom of pots when cooking rice dishes), particularly made out of locally grown rice in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, is set to travel to the US market.
In celebration of the export to the US on Apr. 1, N-Choice, the food producer, said roughly 13 tons of (1,100box/12kg/ worth KRW 66 million) Korean rice cracker were shipped to be marketed in LA and other cities across the West Coast of America.
Being equipped with processors, frying machines and mixers, N-Choice has long specialized in food processing technology, developing rice products since 2017. With soaring demand for Korean snacks in many parts of the world, the cracker maker has expanded its sales networks into overseas markets including the US, Vietnam and Japan. This year alone, nearly 30 tons of Nurungji were all shipped to reach out to the US customers.
