According to Yonhap News,

Park Seon-gyu, governor of Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon, said on February 17 that the region has successfully completed the global Taekwondo competition for teenagers, which makes the prospect for the region's sport marketing bright.

The global competition, held from February 7 to 12 in the Sports Park, Yeongwol, attracted about 10,000 players.

Ahead of the competition, Taekwondo players from national teams made their training camp in the region, which boosted the regional economy.

The foot volleyball competition organized by the Association of Korea University Foot Volleyball, table tennis and tennis competitions were held from February 18 to 19.

Yeongwol is accelerating its efforts to enhance its sport marketing by establishing necessary infrastructures, such as artificial grass soccer fields and tennis courts, and legislating the ordinance for attracting sport players to visit Yeongwol for their off-season training.

Last year, Yeongwol attracted 22 competitions and sport teams consisting of more than 1,000 players for their off-season training, which led to the four billion won-worth economic benefits.
