According to Yonhap News,

Tong Yang Power, an affiliate of Tong Yang Group, signed an MOU with Samcheok City, Gangwon Province to build an environmentally-friendly thermal power plant.

As a part of the establishment project for the environmentally-friendly energy industrial complex on the mining area No. 46, the thermal power plant is designed to ensure stable power supply.

Tong Yang Group will invest a total of 11 trillion won by 2022, to build an environmentally-friendly energy industrial complex including a 3,000-4,000 MW-grade thermal power plant in three phases.

If completed, the industrial complex is expected to create about 1,700 jobs for the power plant and industrial complex in the initial stage and later add 500,000 jobs annually.

"We are concentrating all the capabilities of our affiliates in the energy, financial and manufacturing sectors on making the project successful," said Park Su-jeong, CEO of Tong Yang Group.
