Hongcheon-gun signed an MOU to establish a bio-medical startup hub
Hongcheon-gun and Gangwon Province signed a memorandum of understanding on May 12 to jointly establish a bio-medical startup hub at the presence of key actors involved both in private and public sectors.
The facility will be comprised of startups or early stage businesses developing new vaccines against infectious diseases. Partners which include Wide River Institute of Immunology, Seoul National University, based in Hongcheon-gun, GC LabCell, an affiliate R&D lab, specialized in cell-treating technology and Pharma Research Products, studying regenerative medicine for years will be part of the investment project. Some of them have already reached a consensus to move their research lab into the bio-cluster as early as possible.
The provincial authorities hope that their relocation could spark a cluster of the relevant businesses in the community.
