Foreigners own 20,468,000㎡ of land, or 0.1 percent, in Gangwon Province as of the first quarter of the year, according to survey results.
The figure is up 1,340,846㎡, or 6.5 percent, from 19,127,154㎡ as of the end of last year, when the land owned by foreigners in Gangwon Province accounted for 8.5 percent of the foreigner-owned land in the country (226,210,000㎡).
In terms of the amount of land owned by foreigners, Gangwon Province ranked fifth following Gyeonggi Province (17.0 percent), South Jeolla Province (16.8 percent), North Gyeongsang Province (15.7 percent), and South Chungcheong Province (9.7 percent).
Americans were surveyed to possess 9,616,000㎡ of land (47.0 percent) in Gangwon Province while Europeans owned 6,264,000㎡ (30.6 percent), Chinese owned 1,887,000㎡ (9.2 percent), and Japanese owned 481,000㎡ (2.4 percent).
