Yanggu County signed a mutual agreement with Tarlac city of Philippines yesterday.

A letter of intent for mutual cooperation was exchanged between two cities in Tarlac in October 2012. The cities discussed fields that can enhance mutual profit for both parties, and Yanggu County invited Tarlac city for further negotiations for last week’s visit.

According to the agreement, Yanggu and Tarlac will collaborate in agriculture, economy, culture, education, tourism and more for co-growth. Both cities will send representatives annually for consistent collaboration.

Tarlac is a rural city, which mainly focuses on farming of sugar canes, rice, fruits and stocks.

Its population rapidly grew to 600,000 with a high economic growth thanks to its geographical advantage of close location to Manila. Education exchanges are also possible as schools and national universities in Tarlac offer English programs.

Governor of Yanggu County Jeon Chang-beom expects the agreement to strengthen the partnership between two cities for co-growth and development.

Tarlac mayor Gelacio Manalang noted that exchanges between Yanggu and Tarlac will lay a foundation for economic development and shared prosperity.
