Gangwon’s MICE Industry, the Center of Creative Economy
Pyeongchang will prepare a systematic foundation to make the county the mecca of Northeast Asia’s international conference industry.
Pyeongchang received a good evaluation for its plans to develop the MICE industry by making the best use of its global standard international conference facilities and accommodations, tourism resources and preparations for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
The county was also recognized by its successful hosting of the Twelfth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP12) and its will to develop the international conference industry.
Gangwon has established an organization to strategically develop the MICE industry, which was selected as part of high value-added service industry.
"With the designation of Pyeongchang as an international conference city, we will attract more international conferences to boost our regional economy by securing government expenses and government’s financial and administrative support," said Director Seo Gyeong-won of Global Business Bureau, Gangwon Province.
