Jeongseon Begins Construction of National Minerals Information Center

(JEONGSEONG=NEWSIS) Jeongseon County announced April 14 that it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on April 24 for the national minerals information center.

The Korea Resources Corporation decided to establish a national minerals information center to build an infrastructure that can integrate and manage the geological information that we are losing due to the lack of preservation facilities.

The county and the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy agreed to use the building that once belonged to the Korea Polytechnic III Chuncheon to build the national minerals information center.

The center, which will begin operation in January, 2017, will become the mecca for minerals information through preservation, analysis and research of geological documents.

"We will do our utmost to ensure that the construction of the national minerals information center will revitalize the regional economy," said county mayor Jeon Jeong-hwan.
