This research service is pursued to prepare for the future when hydrogen energy could become eco-friendly energy sources and new growth engine and to set a direction differentiated with other cities and counties.

The research will be implemented with a goal to set a basic direction to become a leading city in the hydrogen economy in such ways as developing new industries, attracting companies specialized in hydrogen, and fostering hydrogen ports by reflecting Donghae's characteristics as a city of port and industry.

The city plans to prepare measures to foster the hydrogen industry, realize carbon neutrality, survey related trends, compare and analyze the status of Donghae-si and competitiveness, measures to foster a hydrogen port base city dedicated to ammonia, and matters to improve systems.

The research will be completed by June this year, after having interim reporting session.

In particular, the city will set up a hydrogen council in the first half of this year and establish an ordinance for fostering the hydrogen industry, in order to support transition of hydrogen-related parts and materials and equipment companies with a focus on tenant companies in Bukpyeong Industrial Complex.

Recently, the city pre-announced legislation of 'draft ordinance on fostering and supporting hydrogen industry in Donghae-si' and is collecting related opinions until February 16.
