According to Yonhap News,

Donghae-si held '2023 Donghae King Crab Festival' for 3 days from May 3 to 7 in Bukpyeong 2nd General Industrial Complex, often dubbed as 'Donghae Russian Snow Crab Village'.

Even though it was held first this year, it made a huge success with around 120,000 visitors flocking into the event for the three days, according Donghae-si.

The city figured out that the event was crowded with a huge number of people thanks in part to inflows of families celebrating the Children's Day (May 5) and visitors to nearby tourist attractions such as Chuam beach and Sol beach in Samcheok, which made a huge contribution to the success of the event.

The opening ceremony kicked off with great fanfare, despite bad weather, while attended by officials and guests such as trade companies in Russian and other sister cities, delegates from Vietnam, citizens, and about 2,000 visitors.

Donhae-si designed this festival after being inspired by the fact that about 85% of the domestic crab import comes through Donhae port.

Mayor Sim Kyu-eon of the city said, "By taking the opportunity of this festival, we will fortify the reputation of this city as a place where you can enjoy the most affordable and scrumptious king crabs, and a home to a range of businesses producing various crab products."
