Wonju Secures State Funding Worth KRW 6 billion to Lay the Ground for the Future Car Industry

According to Yonhap News,


Wonju, Gangwon province announced on June 14 that it won the bid for the project to build the foundation for bio-digital-twin-based automotive parts of future cars organized by the MOTIE.

The city said it will form a consortium with Gangwon State Council, Institute for Advanced Engineering, Gangwon Technopark, and Halla university to implement the project.

A total of KRW 16 billion, including a KRW-6-billion-state funding, will be invested to build automotive-part R&D centers inside the Halla university campus.

Along with it, the city will provide supports to related companies and build necessary equipment in order to help develop automotive parts of future cars and carry out development test & evaluation.

Wonju Mayor Won Kang-soo said, "We will make sure this project will be a major driving force to enhance industrial competitiveness of Wonju-made automotive parts, which will lead to more jobs to be created and much vibrant economy in Wonju."
