Open-field smart farming refers to a system that collects and analyzes crop growth information and cultivation environment including soil, climate, pests in real time and realize precision farming by making farming work automated and robotized.

According to the MOU, the RDA will push for agricultural planning, performance analysis, and technical advice in order to establish the smart farming pilot zone.

Smart farming will be applied to such crops as onions, rice, apples, peaches, grapes, beans, wheat, green onions, cabbages, and radishes.

In each pilot zone, the technologies to collect environmental, crop, and growth information, information analysis and AI technology, analysis information feedback services, and farming work automation technology using autonomous driving and farming robots will be gradually applied.

Local governments will operate and manage pilot zones in their respective region, and deliver their opinions to the RDA to help optimal smart farming methods can be supported.

The project will be implemented from next year to 2026, and the follow-up management will be carried out in the following five years.
