According to Yonhap News,

On February 6, Wonju-si, Gangwon State announced that it had achieved contracts worth KRW 18 billion (USD 13.41 million) at the 49th Arab Health 2024 held in Dubai.

The Gangwon Medical Industry Export Support Group consists of Gangwon Sate, Wonju-si, and Wonju Medical Industry TechnoValley (WMIT) participated in the exhibition held for four days, from January 29 to February 1 in Dubai World Trade Center.

With vigorous activities during the exhibition period, 2,182 cases of consultations (USD 28.46 million) were conducted, up 20% from the last year.

As a result, 130 contracts worth USD 13.41 million, or KRW 18 billion, were achieved.

This achievement is attributable to active marketing by Gangwon Pavilion, where 17 local medical device manufacturers came together, in 24 booths on the space of 216 square meters.

The Gangwon Medical Industry Export Support Group, led by Wonju-si, provided support to help Gangwon's high-tech medical industry to enter the Middle East market.

It also formed an alliance with the Dubai branch of the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Association and the Korean Association of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to strengthen its competitiveness in the export market.

Furthermore, it also signed an MOU with UAE Mecomed that will enhance the global expansion of the local medical industry and facilitate corporate support strategies.

Besides, it also endeavored to lay the foundation for the growth of the Wonju-s medical device industry through discussion with the Dubai Branch of KTC and KOTRA's Dubai Trade Center on certification strategies, and other matters.

Wonju's mayor said, "Dubai is an emerging market, capturing global attention as a rapidly growing capital market," adding "we will join forces to promote excellent products of local companies on the global market."
