According to Yonhap News,

On November 25, Gangwon State and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation (GWTO) held a "Visit Gangwon Year Proclamation Ceremony".

Gangwon State and the GWTO held the proclamation ceremony at Ilsong Art Hall of Hallim University, with the participation of more than 400 people, including ambassadors from 11 countries - e.g., Estonia, Laos, Peru, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Finland-as well as 18 heads of cities and counties in the province, and heads of related organizations.

The ceremony has been prepared to gather the will to revitalize Gangwon tourism by designating 2025-2026 as the Year of Visit to Gangwon.

Prior to the proclamation ceremony, Governor Kim had a luncheon with ambassadors from 11 countries at the Sejong Hotel.

At this luncheon, the ambassadors expressed a great interest in the Gangwon tourism industry and discussed various measures for cooperation in tourism.

Governor Kim thanked each country for being together at the moment of glory, including the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and the 2024 Gangwon Youth Winter Olympics, and asked for active promotions about the Visit Gangwon Year.

At the proclamation ceremony, the provincial dance company performed a sogo dance, leaving a strong impression Gangwon's traditional culture on the attendees.

It was followed by the introduction of the brand identity (BI) for the Year of Visit to Gangwon.

The Gangwon Visit Year is a project jointly pushed for by Gangwon State, 18 cities and counties, and the GWTO to attract tourists from home and abroad.

They have set out the strategy to select one or two cities and counties as travel destinations of the month every month and attract tourists intensively through active promotion in connection with festivals and events in the selected cities and counties.
