The Gangwon Defense Venture Center, which opened for the 11th time in the country, brings together the research and development capabilities of Gangwon State and universities in the region with the expertise of the Korea Research Institute for defense Technology planning and advancement (KRIT) to support market development, incubating, and technology development of small and medium-sized venture companies that want to enter the defense sector.
The operation will be organized by the KRIT, while the provincial government and municipal government will support the operation and project cost of the center. The KNU will participate in providing facilities and operating customized support programs.
Last month, the KRTI selected 14 companies in the province as partner companies.
In the first half of next year, the KRTI plans to recruit the 2nd partner companies and help them gradually expand their entry into the defense industry.
