According to Yonhap News,

On March 27, Gangwon State announced that it will launch a collaborative project with Samsung to promote smart factories.

The project aims to enhance manufacturing processes such as product design and production by building solutions that utilize advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), leading to improved efficiency and increased sales.

Samsung's expert mentor team will be stationed at the participating companies to establish systems and automation, provide support for the introduction of solutions, and offer comprehensive programs including market development and training.

This marks the first time that the province and Samsung have collaborated directly on this project, as previous efforts were led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, with the province providing financing support.

Through this initiative, the province plans to meet the demand of manufacturing companies for establishing the foundation and expand the base of smart factories within the region.

Their goal is for more than 15 companies to participate in the project this year.

To achieve this, the province coordinated with Samsung Electronics and the Korea Federaion of SMEs (KBIZ) to finalize the procedures and schedule for the project and held an briefing session for local businesses on March 18.

The session provided an overview of the Gangwon-Samsung Smart Factory Support Program, including the procedures and summary of the project.

According to a survey conducted by the KBIZ in November of last year, 93.6% of the companies involved in the Samsung-backed program expressed satisfaction, with significant increases in sales due to incrased employment and shortened delivery times.

The announcement for the project will be made on March 30, and details can be found on the KBIZ.
