According to Yonhap News,

Gangwon Sate and Songdo, Incheon joined hands to advance in the bioindustry.

On July 10, Ganwon-do held a signing ceremony at the Celltrion Global Biotech Research Center in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, to officially launch the 'Open Innovation' project.

This agreement is the first result of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the province and Celltrion August last year, aiming to jointly promote the development of the bioindustry and open innovation.

Open Innovation refers to the collaboration that connects large corporations' infrastructure with small and medium-sized enterprises' innovative technologies to foster mutually beneficial partnerships.

By leveraging Celltrion’s world-class pharmaceutical technology and Gangwon's capabilities in fostering innovative businesses, they will support bio ventures and startups.

The project will be implemented in partnership with Gangwon Techno Park, which has successful experience in nurturing bio companies, with plans to offer integrated support for business growth.

In the business recruitment and evaluation process conducted from April to May, eight companies, focusing on antibody-based treatments such as immuno-oncology drugs, antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADC), and bioactive materials, applied for participation. Of them, two companies were selected.

Gangwon's Governor stated, "This partnership is significant as it marks the joining of Gangwon State with Songdo, Incheon, in the bio sector. Going forward, we plan to expand this into a three-way collaboration with Daedeok, Daejeon."
