Wonju-si signed an investment agreement with ENIB, a semiconductor component provider
On July 15, Wonju-si and Gangwon State signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ENIB, a semiconductor and display component supplier, to expand its manufacturing facilities and research institute.
ENIB, based in the Wonju Munmak Ban-Gye Industrial Complex, manufactures chemical piping materials used in semiconductor and display processes. The company has supplied major domestic and international companies such as Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, SK Hynix, and Intel.
Since relocating to Wonju in 2023, the company has achieved a 25.4% average annual growth in assets, and this new expansion investment is seen as a follow-up investment reflecting its stable settlement and business growth after the relocation.
The expanded facilities will produce LPP tubes (dual tubes for highly acidic and alkaline chemicals) and ESD tubes (static-free tubes), which are expected to meet the demand from the upcoming Yongin semiconductor cluster. This expansion is seen as a symbolic example of how Gangwon's semiconductor parts industry gets connected with the core industrial ecosystem of the K-Semiconductor Belt.
Under the MOU, ENIB will invest a total of KRW 3.6 billion by 2027 to expand its factory and research institute within the existing site in the Munmak Ban-Gye Industrial Complex, and hire 12 new employees.
The city emphasized that this investment is a representative case of a company growing in Wonju after its relocation, and plans to continue to play a key role in creating the Gangwon-based K-Semiconductor industrial ecosystem by attracting and supporting semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment companies.
