Wonju-si successfully concluded a business meeting with overseas buyers for export consultations
This export consultation was held on September 10th as part of the '2025 Wonju City Export Competitiveness Strengthening Support Project' to expand exports for local companies and promote the region's excellent products.
A total of 29 overseas buyers and 28 local companies participated in the event, conducting 147 export consultations and signing 13 MOUs valued at USD 3.03 million.
Earlier, the city selected local companies and overseas buyers to participate in the export consultation through the Gangwon State Economic Promotion Agency since March, arranging online consultations from June to August.
In addition to the business meetings, a tour of Wonju City's major tourist attractions, such as the Sogeumsan Suspension Bridge and traditional markets, was organized for 26 overseas buyers on September 11.
A city official said, "In light of the rapidly changing international economic environment, such as the tariffs agreement with the United States, this meeting is expected to play a crucial role in increasing Wonju's exports."
As of July 2025, Wonju's exports stand at approximately USD 720 million, and the city expects to easily reach its goal of USD 1.2 billion for this year. The city plans to explore various support measures to achieve its 2030 target of USD 1.5 billion ahead of schedule.
