According to Yonhap News,

On November 19, Wonju-si announced that it successfully completed its overseas market development delegation to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the second half of the year, achieving a total of 95 consultations worth USD 6.44 million.

The market development delegation, aimed at expanding entry into the Middle East market, took place on November 10-15, with participation from 10 local companies in various sectors, including food, cosmetics, and household goods. The mission included both invitation-based and visit consultations with local buyers.

At the consultation held in Abu Dhabi, pre-matched buyers were invited to promote and sell the companies' products. As a result, a total of 55 consultations were conducted, worth USD 2.63 million in export deals.

In Dubai, company representatives visited local offices and factories to inspect infrastructure and production facilities, holding consultations on-site. This resulted in 40 consultations, amounting to USD 3.81 million in total.

Through product demonstrations and other activities, the companies were able to solidify the potential for market entry, with some being offered additional sample testing and follow-up meetings, engaging in discussions on various opportunities, including connections with the Middle East distribution network.

This delegation to the UAE marks the second entry into the Middle Eastern market this year, following the earlier delegation in the first half, helping companies increase their understanding of the previously unfamiliar Middle East market and maintain continuous communication with buyers.

Wonju Mayor stated, "The demand for Korean products, such as K-Food and K-Beauty, is rapidly increasing in the Middle East, and this will serve as an important foundation for local companies to showcase their competitiveness in the region. We will continue to support excellent SMEs in securing overseas markets through market development delegation, buyer invitation consultations, special overseas sales events, and other export support initiatives."
