According to Yonhap News,
(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced April 28 that CEO Jaehong Kim held a meeting on April 25 in São Paulo, Brazil with 14 directors of KOTRA’s offices in South America to discuss follow-up measures to Korean President Park Geun-hye’s South America tour.
The one-to-one business consulting events held in four South American countries during the president’s visit resulted in export contracts worth USD 646 million.
Based on the results of the president’s visit to South America, Kim and his directors discussed follow-up measures for sectors including ICT, construction·environment·plant, industrial equipment and consumer goods.
They focused on seeking ways to allow more Korean companies to enter the consumer goods market in South America via e-commerce and distribution channels at a time when the middle class has expanded in the region.
To support overseas employment and startups, they will also cooperate to establish K-Move centers.
KOTRA plans to establish a K-Move center at KOTRA’s São Paulo office to provide information on employment and startups, find and introduce jobs and provide Korean companies and people with settlement support.
"The follow-up measures are important for generating tangible results from the president’s South America tour. Therefore, we should strive to help small- and medium-sized companies enter the South American market by providing sector support," said Kim.
