(NEW DELHI=Yonhap News) Pawan Kumar Goenka, President of the Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors of the Mahindra Group and Chairman of the board of SsangYong Motor, has been named an Honorary Ambassador of Foreign Investment Promotion for Korea.
Appointed by Korea’s Minister of Trade, Industry & Energy, the Honorary Ambassador finds potential local investors and introduces them to Korea’s investment environment.
Goenka joined the Mahindra Group in 1993 and led the development of the Scorpio, a sports utility vehicle. He became president of the automotive sector in 2005.
He has served as president of the Society of Automotive Engineers India and is a National Council member of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
"As India’s first Honorary Ambassador of Foreign Investment Promotion for Korea, Chairman Anand Mahindra of the Mahindra Group has played a key role in strengthening relations between Korea and India. I ask for your active contribution as well," said consul general Jang Seok-gu, to Goenka, at the appointment ceremony.
