According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy and Korea Federation of Textile Industries held the Korean Preview in New York 2015 (KPNY 2015) on July 15 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, New York.

Fifty-nine Korean fabric, textile and raw and subsidiary material manufacturers participated in the two-day event to introduce to New Yorkers the fabric types and technological prowess of Korea.

They displayed differentiated textiles to target the niche market between low-end Chinese products and the high-end products of advanced countries; premium textiles that can compete with high-quality European products; and eco-friendly and technical textiles that meet consumer demand.

About 1,000 buyers and designers of luxury brands and department stores, including Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Armani Exchange, Tory Burch, Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's, attended KPNY 2015.

Justin Choi, a design director at 32 Degrees of Weatherproof, said designers in New York highly regard the quality of Korean fabric and textiles and that Korean textile manufacturers will be able to enter the New York market if they respond proactively and swiftly to American consumers’ increased demand for high-end products.

KOTRA and D2, a group of Korean designers working at global fashion companies including Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs, jointly held a trend forum to exhibit artworks made of Korean fabric and textiles based on a Chinese zodiac theme.

"We need to differentiate and upgrade our fabric and textiles to gain an edge over low-priced Chinese products. We will strive to provide strategies and business platforms for Korean companies to enter the global fashion market," said Kim Seong-su, Strategic Marketing Director at KOTRA.
