(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) held the 2016 Global Bio Medical Plaza, Korea's largest overseas marketing project for the medical sector, on March 17 for three days at COEX, Seoul.

The event was organized to respond to the changes of the global medical market and develop Korea's medical industry. Experts expect the global medical market to grow into USD 2.6 trillion in 2024.

KOTRA has selected the advanced and emerging markets and the Eastern European medical device market to target the global medical market.

A total of 116 buyers in the medical and bio sector from 47 countries conducted one-on-one business meetings with around 300 domestic companies. As a result,16 domestic companies signed USD 4.52 million worth of memorandums of understanding with the buyers.

KOTRA jointly held a briefing session with Asan Medical Center and Severance Hospital to introduce Korea's excellent medical equipment to foreign doctors from emerging countries who are training in Korea.

Also ,the Ministries of Health of Panama and Chile searched for Korean companies willing to participate in projects to provide medical services to the deprived areas in both countries.
