Date
2016.09.26

Around 2,000 foreign buyers and investors from around the world will gather at South Korea’s biggest shopping and tourism festival, the ‘Korea Sale Festa,’ starting from September 29, 2016.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) aims to conduct a series of export consultation and investment promotion projects intensively during the one-month event in order to vitalize the domestic economy and boost export in the second half of this year.

In a bid to offer the best experience to foreign visitors, KOTRA plans to provide detailed information on main programs and benefits for participants. 126 KOTRA overseas trade offices in 86 countries are actively promoting the event through local exhibitions and consultation meetings as well.

Starting from the ‘Export Gateway Biz Plaza’ (Sep 30) which will draw 250 foreign buyers to help companies newly starting export, a series of large scale events to promote export will follow. Planned events include the ‘21st World OKTA Convention’ (Oct 4~7) which will bring together 600 overseas Korean entrepreneurs and the ‘Global Mobile Vision 2016’ (Oct 6~8) which will gather 380 mobile sector buyers from around the world.

Following events for export, projects to support overseas business expansion of SMEs will take place back to back, including the ‘Branch Office Project·World Champ Convention’ (Oct 17~21) and the ‘Korea Service & Content Market’ (Oct 18~19).

For investment promotion, ‘Foreign Investment Week 2016’ (Sep 27~29) will attract 340 foreign investors including a U.K. fuel cell supplier AFC Energy to introduce investment environment of Korea’s new industries and organize one-on-on meetings with Korean companies.

Foreign buyers not participating in the festival in Korea will be able to join the event through an online Korean goods sales festival available on 20 overseas online platforms in 10 countries. This online program, which will run through Sep 29 to Oct 31, will allow those not visiting Korea to connect with around 700 Korean cosmetics and consumer goods companies online.

“We plan to invite as many foreign buyers as possible for the success of the Korea Sale Festa,” KOTRA CEO Kim Jae-hong said. “KOTRA will make every efforts to shore up export growth in the latter part of this year.”
