Invest KOREA (IK), the foreign investment promotion arm of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), has won three prizes at the Web Award Korea for its desktop and mobile websites.

KOTRA announced that desktop and mobile version of IK website were awarded with the top prizes in the public & medical institution category and mobile web service category respectively at the Web Award Korea 2016 held at the Lotte Hotel World in Seoul on December 15, 2016. Desktop version of Busan city’s investment promotion website, which is operated by Invest KOREA by contract, won the runner-up prize in the customer support & service category.

The event, hosted by the Korea Internet Professional Association and sponsored by organizations including the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Korea Internet & Security Agency, is regarded as the nation’s most distinguished award for websites.

IK’s website was highly evaluated for its enhanced web accessibility by creating web contents compatible with different browsers and providing equal access for all users including people with disabilities and seniors. It also developed new menus such as FTA network, R&D policies and industry trends and organically connected them with existing contents while offering functionality to keep users informed of updates.

Design of the website also received a favorable evaluation. While maintaining a consistent theme of ‘telling the story of Korea,’ it provides user-friendly and intuitive interface and presents related information on one page so that users can browse contents without moving between different pages. In addition, data and texts are neatly organized and visualized in simple infographics to help users understand contents easily.

Since organizing a dedicated team for website management and development in 1999, IK has been actively responding to the changes in the Internet environment.

“Our website is fulfilling its role of helping foreign investors expanding to Korea and promoting Korea’s investment environment worldwide,” Kim Yong-kook, head of Invest KOREA said. “Going further, we will strive to develop contents and improve services to better serve our users.”
