(SEOUL=Yonhap News) On June 8, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) held a forum titled 'Pinpoint Investment Meeting (PIM) on Future Vehicles' to promote Korea's future car technologies to foreign investors.

At the event that took place at the InterContinental Seoul COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, some 120 foreign investors, foreign-invested companies and foreign correspondents participated.

Presentations were made by Hyundai Motor, KT, Valeo Pyeong Hwa (a local automotive clutch manufacturer), and the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET), introducing current trends in the Korean future car industry and technology to potential foreign investors, as well as specific sectors and companies that hope to attract foreign investment.

Consulting sessions also took place to enable in-depth conversations between Korean companies and foreign investors, who showed particular interest in companies that develop sensors for electric and autonomous cars, cameras, and self-driving systems.

On the following day, the investors will also have an opportunity to visit the Yellow Sea Free Economic Zone (YESFEZ) and see firsthand the local investment environment.

As a follow up to the forum, the trade ministry and KOTRA plan to focus on future vehicles and other promising fields in the fourth industrial revolution at the foreign investment week event scheduled to be held this November.
