Companies Related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution Gather in Tokyo

Ministry of Science and ICT, KOTRA holds Korea IT Expo in Tokyo
Attended by 40 promising ICT companies specialized in IoT, AI and VR, and 250 promising Japanese firms including Softbank and Cannon

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Ministry of Science and ICT jointly hosted "Korea IT Expo in Japan 2018 Autumn" on November 27 at The Prince Park Tower Hotel in Tokyo, Japan.

The event was organized to provide support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups in the field of ICT related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and was attended by 40 promising Korean ICT companies related to AR/VR, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and Fintech, to present innovative products and technologies. It was also attended by about 250 local companies including global ICT companies such as Softbank, Cannon, NTT Docomo and KDDI and leading venture capitals such as SBI and Global Brain.

Four Korean companies including CNA Co., Ltd. and Ava Vision, which has been knocking on the doors to enter the Japanese market, signed export contracts and MOUs worth USD 15 million during the Expo.

In addition, about 100 people from venture capitals in Japan and accelerators attended the startup pitching session, and ten promising startups including Anyractive participated to identify opportunities to attract investments from Japanese investors.

As of the first half of this year, ICT exports to Japan has increased by 7.4 percent on-year to USD 2.23 billion, showing a good flow of growth. (Source: Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Science and ICT)

"The participation of innovative and creative Korean ICT companies will stir up the conservative Japanese ICT firms with innovation," said Soh Young-sool, Head of ICT & Growing Industry Office of KOTRA. He also noted, "We will play a role of a navigator for Korean companies to settle down in the Japanese market through continued support."
