KOTRA (President Yu Jeoung-yeol) will hold the ‘ Foreign Investment Promotion Touring Council with Local Governments ’ starting from April 13 to strengthen cooperation with local governments in attracting investment.

Starting with the ‘Daegu-Gyeongbuk Area Investment Promotion Council’ to be held in Daegu on April 13, this event is scheduled to be held six times until April 29, attended by 13 local governments and 9 Free Economic Zones. It will be held in six regions, including Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Southeastern area, Capital area, Gangwon, Honam, and Chungcheong, in order to discuss ways to attract foreign investment in connection with new industries in each region and cooperate to create quality jobs in the region.

The need to attract foreign investment has been continuously raised to revitalize the local economy and create jobs. In response, KOTRA has added the role of investment attraction to its local Support Centers across the country this year, expanding their functions from exports-centered support to investment attraction.

KOTRA's local Support Centers plan to intensively push for specialized 'public-private cooperative type investment attraction' projects, such as investment attraction IR/forums in connection with regional new industries, through cooperation with each local government, Free Economic Zone Authorities, and leading companies in each region. It is scheduled to sign MOUs with five cooperative organizations to promote the growth and revitalization of the hydrogen industry in Ulsan on April 14.

Shwan Chang, Commissioner of KOTRA Invest Korea, said, “The foreign investment attraction in non-metropolitan areas is an important issue which is directly linked to the balanced national development as well as the revitalization of the regional economy," adding "we will strengthen cooperation with each region for active investment attraction."
