KOTRA to hold a ‘Briefing session on investment in the US in response to GVC reorganization’ on May 2
Introduction to the trends of major industries including semiconductor and future cars, Investment consultations with US states


KOTRA (President Yu Jeoung-Yeol) will hold a ‘Briefing session on investment in the US in response to GVC reorganization’ on May 2, jointly with the U.S. Embassy in Korea (Acting U.S. Ambassador Christopher Dell Sue) and the Association of American State Offices in Korea (ASOK). This briefing session, attended by more than 100 domestic companies engaged in the areas of Korea-U.S. cooperation such as semiconductors and batteries, is expected to provide insights to Korean companies. It will be consisted of △ U.S. industry and investment trend briefing session △ One-on-one investment consultations, and △ Introduction of SelectUSA Summit 2022.

The U.S. industry and investment trend briefing session will explain the reorganization trends of the US manufacturing industry in step with rapid changes in the Global Value Chain (GVC). There will be presentations on the US promising industries including semiconductor and future cars, and investment strategies by inviting experts such as Joe Pasetti, vice president of the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Association (SEMI).

The investment trend briefing session will be held in the format of a panel discussion with the participation of officials from 15 US state governments*, introducing the investment environment and incentives of each state. In addition, Korean companies can gain detailed information on state-specific investment environment through one-on-one consultation with state government officials in the following US investment consultations.

* North Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Oregon, Ohio, Washington, Wisconsin, Georgia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Florida (Osceola County), Virginia (Fairfax County)

Furthermore, this event also includes the introduction of the ‘SelectUSA Summit 2022’, the largest investment attraction event of the United States, which will be held from June 26 to 29. In connection with the Summit, KOTRA invites officials from the US state and local governments in its “Korea-US Investment Cooperation Forum” on June 28 in the US, with a plan to discuss cooperative measures in investment in the semiconductor field.

Shawn Chang, Commissioner of KOTRA Invest Korea, said, "Biden government is emphasizing Friend-shoring, referring to cooperation between allied countries, in dealing with supply chain issue," adding "with this event, we will endeavor to enhance cooperation between our two countries in major industries including semiconductor and help improve understanding of Korean companies regarding the US-led global supply chain reorganization."
