Provide an opportunity for business meetings with inviting clients in clean energy and green infrastructure projects

KOTRA (President Yu Jeoung-yeol) will hold ‘2022 Global Project Plaza (GPP 2022)’ at the Intercontinental Hotel in COEX, Seoul on May 24-27. KOTRA, celebrating its 60th anniversary, actively supports Korean companies' entry into overseas green project markets such as energy, green infrastructure, and environment by hosting this event.

In order to support the flexible response of Korean construction and engineering companies to the changes, this event will be held as △Global Project Forum △On/Offline Project Briefing and Consultation and △Green Business Briefing. In addition, global offshore wind power companies such as Ocean Winds and Aker are to hold 'Supplier Day' of offshore wind power.

*Ocean Winds: A leading global floating offshore wind power company based in Europe
Aker Offshore Wind: Ocean engineering specialized company located in Norway

On the first day of the event, the forum was held under the theme of “Green Business Opportunities and International Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plans”, looking into the trends of global project market and carbon-neutral response strategies. Experts from △Global Green Growth Organization (GGGI) △S&P Global △Eximbank △Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) participated as speakers, introducing transition of the global infrastructure industry and measures to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.

In the following ‘Project Briefing Session’, projects of major clients such as the UAE, India, Nepal and the Dominican Republic were introduced. It provided an opportunity to increase the possibility of domestic companies' participation in the bidding, with 14 other projects that were previously released online. Also, in the 'Green Business Briefing', KOTRA, Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (CEO Lee Kang-hoon), Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (President Yoo Je-cheol), and Export-Import Bank of Korea (Chairman & President Bang Moon-kyu) introduced support systems of each institution, including green finance.

On May 25, on/offline business meetings are scheduled for 120 projects from 82 clients in 38 countries in the fields of environment, energy, transportation and infrastructure. 80 Korean companies are to have meetings with clients about clean energy projects including solar power and wind power, and water treatment and waste projects worth about USD 50 billion.

KOTRA President Yu Jeoung-yeol said, “we hope the Global Project Plaza would serve as an opportunity for Korean companies to quickly catch changes in the infrastructure industry caused by the carbon-neutral trend and strengthen their response capabilities.” adding that "KOTRA will also strengthen support the efforts of companies to realize carbon-neutrality."
