KOTRA (President Yu Jeong-yeol) held 'Local Governments-FEZ Investment Promotion Support Meeting' to reinforce the cooperative system of foreign investment promotion with local governments. The event was joined by 30 officials who are in charge of investment promotion,' from nine municipalities (Daegu-si, Asan-si, Gangwon-do, Chungbuk-do, Chungnam-do, Jeonnam-do, Gyeongbuk-do, and Invest Seoul) and three Free Economic Zones (Busan & Jinhae, Daegu & Gyeongbuk, the East Coast, Gwangyang Bay Area Ulsan and Chungbuk).

Under the 1998 Foreign Investment Promotion Act, the general administrative support center at KOTRA was launched. Since then, the center's experts, together with officials from the central government, municipalities, and related institutions, have provided one-stop services for general consulting regarding foreign investment as well as administrative support.

With several years of general consulting, the center has accumulated experience and know-how regarding what to consider and what is necessary to support when foreign investors and foreign invested firms decide to invest. And the center also plans to share those with local governments' civil servants in charge of investment promotion to expand attracting investment.

Lee Gyeong-sik, head of the General Administrative Support Center at KOTRA, addressed his will by saying, "we will ramp up the cooperation of government-municipality-KOTRA," and added, "we will spare no effort in offering any available support necessary for establishing a close network with regions or attracting investment, such as sharing information."
