On October 16, Invest KOREA, KOTRA's foreign investment promotion agency, won the United Nations Investment Promotion Awards (UNIPA), the world's most prestigious investment promotion award, organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Since 2002, UNCTAD has presented the UNIPA annually to agencies which have excelled in their investment promotion activities. This year, UNCTAD evaluated activities of 195 organizations since March this year, spotlighting their work in attracting investment to accelerate energy transition aimed at curbing climate change, one of UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

James Zhan, Director of UNCTAD's Investment and Enterprise Division, who organized the award ceremony, announced Invest KOREA as the winner, adding that it stood out for its efforts to create a sustainable energy infrastructure in response to climate change.

"This award is an international recognition of Korea's efforts to attract investment in high-tech industries in response to the global issue of climate change," said Kim Tae-hyung, Commissioner of Invest KOREA. "Invest Korea will take a leading role in support of strengthening domestic industrial supply chains and creating new jobs through investment."

Furthermore, Invest KOREA will host the "Invest KOREA Summit 2023" on November 6-8, the leading national investment promotion IR event. The event, which will be held for the 19th time this year, will be held in Busan for the first time since its inception in conjunction with the bid for the World Expo in Busan. It plans to invite more than 300 foreign investors, foreign journalists, diplomatic envoys to Korea and foreign-invested companies to promote Korea as "an investment hub that connects the world" from the perspectives of global cooperation concerning Korea's excellent high-tech industries and supply chain.
